Hello all.

My name is Stephen and I am posting this message in behalf of my same sex partner.

I am an Australian citizen and Shane is Mauritian. We are confused about which way to go with visas as we have been told of different ways. We have been together for six years now. Should we go with a Tourist Visa, then a Partner Visa then a Prospective Marriage Visa ?

My partner came here in 2014 for three months (his mother came with him but only stayed a month). He had an extra month granted due to my father passing away while he was here. I have been to Mauritius twice now, 2017 and this year. We have registered our relationship with Births Deaths and Marriages as a De-Facto couple and we became engaged in September of this year.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards.

I think you guys have 2 options,
1) PMV, your partner must be outside Australia when the application is lodged and granted once he the application is lodge he can come to Australia on a tourist visa until the PMV is granted.
2) onshore partner visa, your partner will visit Australia with a tourist visa, then you guys can lodge an onshore Partner visa, he will be able to remain in Australia until the visa is granted. Hope I was able to help.

If your partner is in Australia on a tourist visa without “ no further stay” condition, an onshore partner visa may be the easiest option for the moment.

Hi

It is Shane actually (the applicant). We are sorry for the late reply. Steve and I did not get much of a chance to sign in to our account.

1. Well, we are both aware of this. The thing with the Tourist Visa is that you can get the 8503 condition. It was the case, when I visited Oz in 2014.

2. Pretty much the same process that you suggested before.

Thanks for your help anyhow :)

We will try to look for a different avenue, but it is pretty hard.

Cheers Sammee24 !

Hi CCMS,

Thank you for replying back to our concern. I am Shane (the actual applicant).

I am still in Mauritius. Steve and I were thinking of having a go at the PMV, as we would not have to show evidence of lease, etc. We have started to fill out the online application, but we are stuck on page 18.

Could you help us with that please ? We may require a good (but not a dear) migration agent to sort things out.

My visa history is as follows :

1) Granted a Tourist Visa in 2014 (with 8503 condition on it)

2) Refused a Tourist Visa in 2016 & 2017.

Rather than get people trying to look up page 18.
It's much easier to ask and state whatever the question is.
