How long does it take for a state (TAS) to nominate you in visa 190?

Hello! I meet all the requirements for both 491 and 190 and currently live and work in Tasmania; I would have less points for 190, but I'd still be above the minimum.

I am finishing up my working holiday visa and wouldn't have a lot of time to sit around in the country to wait to be nominated on 190. I don't see flying back to my home country as an option if I'm waiting to be bid on and my current visa expires.

I know you can't apply for 190 once you're on 491, so my question is how long might the wait for 190 be? I was seeing some people talk about waiting for many months.

Sorry for being pedantic. I am having to budget how long I'll have to be jobless for because I can't work my current job after the six month work restrictions for the WHV.

Fair question and fair considerations - I would think it is from the point of time you have applied for Tasmania state nomination, e.g. from this page:
https://www.migration.tas.gov.au/ski...nominated_visa

Don't forget though, once you get the Tasmania nomination, then you typically get 60 days to apply for the 190/491 visa, and then processing time can be many months more.

So unless you are eligible for a Bridging Visa that will give you work rights (usually upon applying for the PR visa) while you wait onshore for your 190/491 visa to process, you may not be able to work till you are granted your 190/491 visa.

It may be worth consulting a MARA agent, a few offer free advice / free first consultations:

For 190 you need to work in your own field for 6 months and they are giving more priority to 491 applications
