23 months waiting, 820 visa

Hi all,
I just wanted to gather other people's thoughts on this. I have applied for a defacto visa 820/801. I applied in December 2017 and am still waiting. I am from Ireland (so not considered a high risk country) and my partner is Australian. We met in 2015, have been together officially since January 2016, and applied for the defacto visa in December 2017. We had been living together for 11 months when we applied, but did register our relationship in NSW. We have joint bank accounts, car insurance policies, joint travel documents, photos together, 10 stat decs, superannuation beneficiaries etc etc. I heard nothing until July 2018 when police checks were requested, and nothing again until September 2019 when I was asked to complete a medical. I have heard nothing since. What is going on, should I be worried? Has anyone else been waiting an exceptionally long time?!?

Thanks.

It does seem a long time, but you may be in line to get the 801 grant immediately after the 820. If so that would end up being a shorter time in total to PR. Between 32 and 44 months from 820 application to 801 grant is about normal, for those who get the 820 first, then do the 801 submission.

20 to 24 months, from 820 application, to go direct to 801, appears near average.
You are currently at 23 months.. Fingers crossed.

These two also applied in Dec 2017, and are still waiting.

Applied Sept 2017, and had the 820 and 801 approved in early November 2019, after 26 months.

Thanks for your reply, that makes me feel alot better knowing that I am not the only one in this situation. I thought you couldn't start the permanent visa 801 application until 2 years after you first applied for the 820 visa? Atleast that is what my migration agent told me. So by right, i can start uploading further information gathered over the last year in a months time? Or can i start uploading the extra evidence now even though it hasn't been exactly 2 years since i applied for the initial 820 visa?
