A Question Regarding Prospective Marriage Visa

Hi Guys,
I am planning to apply for a prospective marriage visa for my girlfriend in Nepal. She studied here with me 4 years back. My question is What time frame should I get from the marriage Celebrant when the visa can take anywhere between 12 and 18 Months??

Hi Kirani,
You can set the time in a year put in mind you can change it in one year other wise you will lose the money and have to book the date again.

75% of PMV's take under 12 months, so a year ahead might be about right. It might need changing later, but i would suggest not booking anything, other than the celebrant, until you have the visa.

There isn't really a right answer. You would have to decide with your girlfriend at random, bearing in mind the processing times and that you would have 9 months to plan your wedding and get married. You could always change the date with the celebrant, or so I've heard. They should be aware that, depending on when you get your visa the date might need to be amended.
When my partner and I applied for the PMV - we went with 14 months from the application date, as we understood that it might take a while for the grant to come through. We got our grant in 6 months and left the wedding date as is in the letter from the celebrant/ NOIM/ immi application.

I canít remember how far out we put our date, but we were emailed by Immigration, stating that they were ready to make a decision, and we could either keep the original date, and they would hold the grant until 9 months before that date, or provide a new letter from the celebrant with a date that was within 9 months. We took the second option.

Will I have a problem with my pmv visa? In my further statement of relationship I stated that me and my fiance started dating around december 26 (cant remember) and on the actual form I we put december 25.
