Establishing a business on Subclass 417

I was talking to a few friends here today and two or three of us were looking at starting a business together as partners. Can I do that on a subclass 417 (Working Holiday, 6 month limit working for one employer) or would I need to be a permanent resident / have a specific working visa?

If I can, does the 6 month time limit still apply if I'm employing myself?

Thanks in advance

You can be self-employed on a WHV. You can't work for the same client exclusively for longer than 6 months, but you are fine if there is a spread of clients. If you form a company of which you are an employee, that may be more problematic.

Either way, you should seek some professional guidance once you have more specific details of the business that you intend to undertake.
