Form 888 Question

Hello everyone,

Form 888 (needed for Partner visa 820) states:
"If the visa applicant is outside Australia and is unable to
have an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident
complete this form, any person who knows the applicant and
their partner or fiancÚ(e) may also complete this form."

I am applying in Australia, but my family lives in Europe. The only persons who can fill out the 'Form 888' for us are my partner's mom and his best friend (as most of his family also lives abroad). They are both Australian Citizens.
However I would like to include my mom's and my dad's declaration/knowledge of our relationship too. Can they also fill this form, and if not, could they write a letter instead?

Thank you very much, your replies are much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Daisy

When I applied for my own PR there were two 888 from Australian citizens who lived in Australia, and there was also a statutory declaration from someone overseas who witnessed my long-term relationship with my then-Australian partner.

Years later when we applied for the PMV of my current wife we had three 888, two from Australian citzens residing in Australia and one from a Permanent Resident in Australia. We also had two statutory declarations from people in her country of origin witnessing of our relationship. Later on when the case officer asked for proofs that we live together (which should not have been asked because living together is not a criteria for a PMV and by definition you do not live together when you ask for it) we had my neighbour (a Permanent Resident of foreign citienship) sign a statutory declaration witnessing that she was staying with me for months on end while waiting for the PMV and prior to our application as well. The PMV was granted.

So if my experience is any indication, as long as you have two 888 from Australian citizens/Permanent residents, it does not hurt to have extra witnesses from foreign countries giving you a statutory declaration.

Question Do overseas witnesses need to get their passport scans certified?

My mom and my dad are doing statutory declarations for me in Ireland now, but there is one thing I am unsure about. Should they also bring colour scans of their passport and get it certified or not?

Many thanks in advance.

Daisy

yes, I did this for my application, so I will recommend your parents to bring copies of passport to be certified together with the form888.
