Grant of Partner Visa

What is the possibility of a temporary partner visa getting refused? Even if you upload information you think proves that the relationship is genuine.

10.5% of 309 finalisations were refusals in 2018/19.
7.2% of 820 finalisations were refusals in 208/19.

We really don't know how many genuine applications were refused out of those refusals (10.5% of 309 and 7.2% of 820)

Not complying with the security requirements could lead to a refusal. Also there is some possibility of not complying with medical requirements. Submitting fake documents also could lead to a refusal even if the relationship is genuine.

By security requirements, criminal history.

It is often frustrating because people come here to say their partner visa was refused but never say why. It would help understand the risks of refusal and you would get an answer to your question. Sadly people mostly come here to rant their visa was refused but do not get any important information.

Thus being said, on the few occasions when someone showed me the refusal letter in a private message, I was very surprised to see the applicants made very, very basic mistake. In one occasion someone showed me her letter of refusal and the case officer stated her visa was refused because she did not answer the request to send a proof of residence. She had the proof of residence, she just did not send it when the case officer asked because she did not think it was so important. I still do not understand what went wrong in her head when she disregarded the case officer's request and why she failed to understand the refusal...

If your relationship is genuine, if you send them everything they asked for, if you explained why there is something you cannot provide ,then you should get the visa. From what I have seen interacting in this forum for a few years, most people get a refusal because or very gross mistakes or because they were simply not eligible to begin with.

Ah thank you! Have you heard of any refusals of online relationships who have met but not lived together for long?

You are spot on. It is one of the reasons why giving advice on online forums is fraught with danger. Very often people do not disclose the full facts or do not actually understand what is going on with their application.

yes this is why in general I do not give advice but share my experience if it is relevant to the question and see if that helps the person understanding their situation better.

I never tell people what they have to do. I told them what I did or saw, and then they can do whatever they want with that.
