485 to PhD?

Hi,
I am looking to seek some advice on PhD applications before or after the 485.

I have just finished my master's degree and will be going back to my country of origin due to a family matter. I was thinking of either returning on a student visa or tourist visa to apply for the 485.

I've also been thinking about applying for a PhD degree, and I was wondering about the potential to apply for a PR after if I've used up the 2 years TR now. I believe all PhD courses would require me to teach/tutor so could I out something like "teaching" into my application for PR? Or should I try and get the PhD application sorted now, and then use the 4 year period after to get a job in the field then apply for PR?

Thanks!
