Medicare while waiting for grant of visa 309

Hi everyone, i have seen earlier posts regarding this where people have been granted temporary medicare cards while waiting for their visa 309 grant. My wife is here as a tourist on visa 600. We went to a centerlink center and as usual the staff have no inclination that medicare is possible despite everything written clearly on their website. So has anyone had any luck with them on a certain center in Gold Coast/ Brisbane or is writing to the Health Minister my only option. Thanks In advance.

Did you mention being on the visitor visa? That would have been an automatic reaction that visitors are not eligble.

Going in and saying you have applied for a partner visa 'should' allow the process to start.

Ask to speak to a supervisor and if that does not help try a different office.

In fact i did mention she was on a visitor visa. But i don't understand that when it is clearly given on their website, that you need a valid visa(600), proof that you have applied for permanent residency(309), proof of your citizen/permanent resident spouse (marraige certificate) why they still wont process it.

I just done it this week. But I'm here in NSW. I print and fill up the form online. And went there havepassport my 600 and 309 on hand. My husband passport and my marriage certificate. Maybe they haven't encounter it from there. Its indicates on the form though. You just have to show it to them I think.

Yes i know it should have been pretty straight forward, but here i am now fretting over it. From what i have learned this has been happening for a long time and it has still not been sorted out. Lack of training in new rules and regulations i guess.
