We did this way. Applied for 309 and then for a visitor visa. They gave me a multiple entry 12 month visa.

Awesome
What is the maximum amount of time you could stay on each visit here?

Cool
How long did it take to get approval on your 309?
Also is it possible to leave the country and return the next week?

Australia is all most about to go into complete lockdown!

Your priorities seem very selfish.

Australia has shut it's borders - but yes it is possible to leave.

RETURN 99%+ hope not - it is time to look after humans not individuals.

The plan is not for now. Its a plan for 1yr from now. We haven't applied for anything yet and don't intend to until the virus settles. I just wanted to know if this is allowed so my partner and i aren't far apart for too long.

Ok Sorry thought it was a next week plan.

Aircraft movements around the world have dropped massively, but many flights are moving infected people around the globe.

This is a live link of every flight in the air currently.

https://www.flightradar24.com/-15.7,-173.99/2

This is the live virus stats - tomorrow or the next day USA will become second & Donald wants things "noral" by Easter!

In reality kiss 2020 goodbye for travel plans.

International air travel is about to go into storage phase, after that it will take + 3 months to re start it ( it will be out for 6 + months). Then only the wealthy will afford a ticket for 6 or more months after the first flights.

I have worked in aviation all my working life - this is as bad as it gets.

Look up the 1989 "pilot dispute" - that was a walk in the park as was 9/11 and the GFC.
