just booked a week in Vanuatu! hopefully that's enough time for them to complete my visa stuff. I can't really afford to stay any longer than that so I'm sort of pushing my luck with this. Has anyone been to Port Vila? I've been on TripAdvisor looking for inexpensive ways to keep busy for a week.. Staying in a hostel in hope that I'll meet friends and join tours.

Congratulations lyddies!! Everytime I log on here I keep hoping there's been movement or an approval from Washington! Sweet news indeed! Enjoy your few days in Vanuatu!

I have been to port vila twice. There are no real hostels and I didnt meet other single travelers. I recommend you to get around in the local minibuses, that way you can get to the waterfall etc. For cheap

Update: I left for Vanuatu on Sun, Oct 6 and emailed them letting them know I had left. On their Monday I received confirmation that my Visa had been processed and approved! So even though they told me at least 5 business days, they got it done in one. They've been very fast an efficient ever since I sent the Direct Email to my Case Officer. I wish I had joined this forum sooner because I didn't know that you could email them directly until I read it on here. But all is well - I'm back now, had no trouble at all through customs, never even got asked a single question. Now it's time to get my Medicare and Tax File ID and start looking for work!!

Oh, weren't you expecting to go straight to 100? Or am I mistaken?

No I was not expecting that. I didn't even know that was possible. I think it takes 2 years? And I'm not sure if that's from the time app was lodged or from the time app was approved. If it's from lodged then it's been 8.5 months already so I would still expect over a year from now.

It takes two years from the time your application is lodged, yes. I think bjch is thinking of someone else. You can be put straight through to the PR if you've been married/de facto for three years or more, or for two years or more if you also have a child together.

Yep, I must have been confused. Either way, it's great you got your visa!
