309/100 Visa Processing - Fiji

Hi Everyone,

I keep getting conflicting advice on this - are Partner Visas still being processed? Our application is in Fiji and emailing the case officer returns back an auto email saying the office is closed due to Covid. Ringing home affairs they say our application is still being processed. I have seen one grant from fiji in April on facebook, but I am still extremely nervous.

Is it within the standard processing times? If yes then there is not much you can do other than wait. COs are assigned randomly so you should not worry about the processing office.

We have a case officer, medical requested and done right before the lockdown. Just worried nothing will happen now...

As far as Home affairs is concerned, the application is probably still being processed, in Fiji, and will be completed when Fiji complete it.

Some Embassies/Consulates are still operating, and granting visas, some are closed, and therefore nothing happening.

According to the TTSERVICES AUSTRALIA website the Australian Visa Application Centres and Fiji call centres have been closed since 02 April 2020 due to covid until further notice.

I just rang them and was able to get through (I can't get through to the NZ equivalent where I live atm). Not that it really matters - I thought the partner visas were processed at the embassy and AVAC just helps with the documents?

I thought maybe that they were closed so anything to do with visas also. Did you mean the embassy is still open? If that is the case fingers crossed as my husband's application is through there also and was dreading thinking they are currently on hold.

Don"t hold your breath waiting for any reply, it simply will not happen.
They do not want to correspond with you in any way shape or form.

You simply have to wait it out and if anything like our application, they left it to the last minute and we had 2 weeks to organise my wife's transfer form Thailand to Aus.
Even though they say do not give up your job or make any plans until you are notified your application is successful, it pays to be ready as much as possible.

Miss their deadline and you have to start again, real bunch of heartless wallies.

That sounds unusual. I've seen some given many months to do the move.

Often the date is based on when medicals expire. We were given 2 months, and told we would need to redo the medicals if we left it later.

They replied pretty quickly to our correspondence.

It obviously varies, case by case, office by office.

Hi just wanted to update here that we received an RFI today and visa is being processed in Suva, Fiji (applied from New Zealand) This is the second RFI we’ve received, the first one in January, so must mean that Fiji is processing again. Good luck all!
