Hey I’m a Canadian Citizen and my partner is an Australian citizen. I am currently in Canada and my partner is in Australia. She is 8 months pregnant and about to give birth to our first child. I was wondering if there is any way I can go to Australia on a ETA visa and then apply for the subclass 820 visa. It’s a really hard time for us and I hope I can find a solution. If you know anything that could help, we can puke really appreciate it. Even if you could point me in the direction of any one I should get into contact with that would be really helpful. Thank you so much.

You can apply for an ETA, and once you get it apply for a travel exemption.

No guarantee of course, but probably worth trying. Especially as you have a good reason.

Once in Australia, the 820 might be able to be considered.
