What does it mean if a 309 visa application status changes from received to further assessment?

We applied 11 months ago from London office and haven’t had any contact. Does this mean the file has been opened or not necessarily?

I saw someone mention it could just be due to a system update changing the status of it.

Most definitely it has been opened. So wait a little bit more as they do their checks

From experience, the status can also change if they have issued an RFI ("request for further information") and they are reviewing the new evidence/docs submitted. Not sure if this applies to you.

I’ve not had an RFI, the status changed on its own.

Hi Paul,

Thank you very much. Once I have five post that meet the forum guidelines, I'm sure they'll open up my signature block. MARN will happily be added.

They might just be reviewing the file. Just continue monitoring your emails as I am confident you have doing so far
