485 Graduate Work Visa

Hi all, I am currently studying Diploma in Project Management and I have also finished studying Cert IV in Project Management Practice. I want to know if I am eligible to apply for a 485 Graduate Work Visa. Thinking of the occupations Engineering Manager or Civil Engineer or Construction Project Manager.

If I am not eligible, would it be wise to enroll for a Masters degree? Or enroll into another course? Thank you in advance!

Hi there,

Besides the Cert IV and Diploma in Project Manager, do you have any other qualifications (including overseas)?

To be eligible for the Temporary Graduate Visa (Graduate Work Stream), amongst other requirements, applicants need to meet the Australian Study Requirement (92 weeks of study that lead to a Diploma, Trade Qual, Bachelor) AND need to be able to nominate an occupation of the MLTSSL list and obtain a positive Provisional Skills Assessment. Project Manager is not on the MLTSSL and I believe the closely related occupations you mentioned above require a Bachelor (I would need to double check this).

To be eligible to apply for a Post-Study Work Stream, studies need to be at a Bachelor, Masters or PhD level (there are other important requirements you should also be aware of before you enrol in a Master's Program if you want to apply for a 485 afterwards).

If you give me more info about your background, I might be able to help you a little bit more.

For 485 Temporay Graduate visas there is a Graduate Work stream and Post-Study Work stream. One criterion for the Post-Study Work stream is that the visa applicant must have satisfied the Australian Sudy Requirement and hold a Bachelor or higher degree, conferred by an approved institution.

From what you have posted, it is possible that your diploma might qualify you to apply in the Post-Study Work stream.

Neither of these streams offers an assurance of progression to permanent residence. May I suggest that you consult one of the registered migration agents who posts on this forum for a full assessment?

Thank you for your replies. So here is my background. I am 26 yrs old and I graduated my bachelors degree in Civil Engineering in the Philippines. I have 1 yr experience in the highways and a yr experience teaching in the academe. Afterwhich I already went here in Syd. My work here as of the moment is a personal assistant at an acctg firm. So I think working my way directly to PR would be hard as I lack the experience. (Cause I had no luck looking for a job here), and now I am confused as to what should be my next step as my visa is expiring next yr. I have spoken to one agency and they recommended a change in course, commercial cookery, fastest way for PR. And another agency recommended to enroll to a masters degree, bachelor of engineering. So I want to get some inspiration from you guys as to what should I do next.

You definitely have some things to consider before making a decision on what to do next. I agree, you should get in touch with a Registered Migration Agent to discuss Graduate Visas and pathways to PR based on your existing quals or any new career you're planning to start

Good luck!

Thanks for your advice! Do you know any registered migration agents that I can talk to? It seems I cannot see them posting recently.

I wonder if the migration agents signatures are showing to everyone.... !!

The two posts above you (Siham Rowe and wrussell) both show they are migration agents in their signatures. (seen on my desktop screen).

But you can also look at: https://www.australiaforum.com/visas...on-agents.html

If the OP goes to my website pinoyau.com and uses the contact form, I shall have a look at the case.
