Thanks again JaneD for the details information. Now I understand why the duration was 44 months. You must have felt so relief when it was all over

Did your partner have to do the health check again during the 820/801 stage? Currently our immi record indicates health check is not required, I guess possibly because it's been done for the 300 application.

Regards
NB

That would be a dream come true!

In relation to the 'long term relationship' definition, does it means we have to live together in order to meet that criteria? As mentioned, we've been in a long distant relationship for 8 years at the time of our PMV application so not sure if that would be considered as 'long term relationship'?

Regards
NB

Just the one medical for the 300. Nothing after that.

The 801 grant was a great relief for us both, after almost 4 years of form filling and anxiety.

From what I have seen, a long distance relationship is not normally considered as a 'long term relationship'?

However, there can be exemptions. This would depend on circumstances, and might be best evaluated by a migration agent.

These words from immigration seem to be relevant to some applications.
You must prove that "you either live together or don't live permanently apart".

Thanks. Hope we won’t be asked to do the health check again as I heard it can be costly in Australia.

Praying we’ll get the magic letter one day soon 🙂

Sorry to trouble you again JandE, your 820 grant was extremely fast ie 3.2 months, would you mind sharing your tips on how to secure the speedy outcome?

We’ve uploaded pretty much all the required documentation upfront except for the police check for both the applicant & myself (sponsor). I’m yet to upload photos etc under the ‘sponsor’ application section.
We included 3 forms 888, do I need to get separate form 888 for the sponsor as well?

We haven’t done the ‘relationship statement’ as thoughts it’s covered under the financial, mutual commitments, household chores statements etc as part of the application questions already.

We don’t have joint assets but I did set up joint bank statement upon his arrival & been using the joint debit card for grocerries expenses. I’ve also updated the utilities bills to include his names. Also nominate my hubby as the superannuation benefiary Hopefully that would be sufficient proof that we’re living together & in a genuine relationship.

Please let me know if you have any other thoughts.

Many thanks!
NB

Back in August 2016, when the 820 was granted, ours was the slowest on this forum. From the August 2016 grants (820s from PMV), two took under 1 month, one took just under 3 months, and ours just over 3 months.

Times have changed, with more applicants, and slower times now.

We only did 2 of the 888s, no joint assets, but we were using a joint bank account. No super beneficiary statement, no wills.

Much appreciated your speedy response 🙂

Was the international police check for your wife finalised in a timely manner? Just trying to gage the time frame so that we can plan as wouldn’t want to do it twice.

Hoping the Dept still process onshore applications rather than putting every visa categories on hold because of the Covid situation.

Have a great weekend!

Cheers

Hi,

Just want to share.

Applicant - Philippines

Applied 300 - June 2018
Granted 300 - Mar 2020 (20 months)
Expiry of 300 - Dec 2020

Applied 820 - June 2020
Granted 820 - July 2020 (1 month and 9 days)

Eligible for 801 - June 2022

So, the whole process from 300 to 820 to 801 will be a total of 4 years or 48 months. Whew!

Cheers

The 820 and 801 police checks required were only the Australian ones. About 1 week.

You might as well do it now. Some 820s are being granted very quickly, if everything is lodged.

Onshore applications are still being processed, and often faster than normal, while the offshore ones are on hold.
