Many thanks for sharing your information.

Wow that's amazing your 820 grant was just over a month! Our was lodged in April 2020 & still no words. Would you mind sharing your tips on how to secure such a fast outcome?

Cheers
NB

No grants.....Just Need Clafication

Can I say we hav been in a relationship more than 3 yrs from the day we lodge prospective visa up to now .
Because
April 2017 ..Lodged sub 300
March 2018...Granted sub 300
Lodged May 2018...820/801
2019...waitin
2020 waiting

And is it possible DOHA grants both when they really took time like this even not granted 820.

Thanks

It looks like you may get both 820 and 801 at the same time. If your 820 was granted within the two year period then it may have been a different story.

From what I ve seen, this has been the case with many applicants. You may ask them for an update using the enquiry form, assuming you ve uploaded all your documents.

Was the international police check for your wife finalised in a timely manner? Just trying to gage the time frame so that we can plan as wouldn’t want to do it twice.

Hoping the Dept still process onshore applications rather than putting every visa categories on hold because of the Covid situation.

Have a great weekend!

If your police check you provided for the 300 are still valid (12 months) then you may not be asked to provide them again for the 820. I wasn't asked to provide them for mine (police checks provided in April 2017, PMV granted in May 2017, 820 lodged in February 2018 and granted in June 2018 - no police checks requested)

There are no real tips when it comes to a speedy process. What you can do is limit potential delays. So make sure your evidence is clearly presented so your CO has a clear picture of your relationship, and doesn't have to ask you for clarification (which will delay the process):
- Give a clear title to your document before uploading them (I labelled mine starting with the category, then nature of documents; for instance: "nature of household-energy bills", "social aspect-photos with friends", etc).
- Write a short caption under your pictures ("Me and my partner at my sister's birthday, 20 June 2016").

Also while you need to be thorough, you don't want to bury your CO under too many documents that will take them ages to get through. So a few pictures that cover the whole period and show you with friends and family are better than a 50-pages PDF.

It also helps to provide all documents so your case is decision ready.

Thanks Ponysoup for the invaluable advices

Although we haven't been asked for the police checks, think we'll need to apply for another one as ours had expired since the PMV granted.

Just wait for the Case officer come back and request you for the police check. And if your husband have spent more than 12 months in Australia by then, yes you need to apply for Australia Police Clearance. No rush in doing now. Even you granted 820 now, you still have to wait after 2 years (from the date of your 801 application) before you can apply for 801 PR anyway.

hi everyone,

Asking on someone's behalf. I have couple of questions,
1. Can a unlawful ( 186 visa got rejected and become illegal for more tan 28 days) person married ( married for 7 days) to Australian husband can apply 820/801 visa?
2. If they can what difficulties they might have to face to get 820 visa grant.

I really appreciate in advance for your help.

Thank you

Proving the relationship is genuine, and not just to get a visa, is the first thing that springs to mind.
