Adding a partner to a 574 visa

Hi guys,

last year I've received a PhD offer from UNSW.

By the time I've lodged my visa application (visa 574), I didn't state my girlfriend as a family member. For legal matters, in Brazil (our home country) she would only be family if we were married.

Now, I'm finding myself in the though situation of finding out how my girlfriend can come over to Australia (once the pandemic is over).

I did an extensive search on the internet but information on that is scarce. Then, I called immi and an agent told me that I need to fill form 1022 (Notification of changes in circumstances) and send it to the Department of Home Affairs by post.

In this sense, I would like to ask if any of you have gone through this procedure? And what should I do after I submit this form? Will they let me know they've received it and updated my status so she could apply as a subsequent entrance to my 574 visa?

Thank you in advance,
