Have you been known by any other name? - Visa application

I am filling the application for our partner visa and hitting this question: "Have you been known by any other name(s)".
In fact our names have never been changed but because we are from Vietnam where they always put given names = middle name + first name, while surname is fine. This lead to the fact that we when we were granted with the student visa previously, the names were middle name + first name + surname.

Now as we are making a new application (online), and we want to make it right we fill in the name order following the Australian system (First name + Middle name + surname).

So, should we asnwer "YES" for this question and just explain why is that.

Would the CO later request us to do a statutory declaration or police checks under different names?

Thanks

Hi Danny18

We had the same name issue so I've answered yes and listed/showed other spelling of my names when we did our PMV application with an explanation of the reason for the name discrepancy in comparison to those listed in official documents ie passport.

Best of luck with your partner application

Regards
NB

Thanks @Newbie. And did you come up being asked any questions about this?

No other questions were asked but I can’t guarantee anything as each case officer’s requirement/style is different 🙂

Definitely understand Newbie. At least we know the good direction to go foward. Because the difference in naming system, we have been having so many troubles with different names on different documents. For me (sponsor) I just have solved that a month ago when becoming a citizen. However, no I have to use to old document such as bills, flight tickets...with old names again.
Well, thanks again, I will try to explain as much as I can in the application.

Yes can be tiresome & stressful with the application process. As long as you have all the supporting documents to support claims made in your application, think it should be ok.

I have an unrelated queries, if you’ve been through similar experience please share your tips. Currently I’m exploring English courses for my hubby, as he’s not eligible for the free 500 hours free English lessons. Do you know of any organisation that provide general English courses at an affordable/reasonable price?
I’ve made several enquiries and because we have to pay full fees, it’s quite pricey.

Regards
NB

Hey Danny18

Just thought I share my great news as I'm so excited, we got the 820 grant today, just over 3 months from the lodgement date!

Wishing you a speedy outcome too

Cheers
NB

Oh great news, congratulations! Very happy for you. We submitted the application a week ago, but it is off-shore where all visa application centres are closed, so my wife cannot do biometric collection as well as medical check. So, I guess nothing is happening with the application.
But congrats again and g'luck!
