If someone made a joke about Asian women you would have had every right to be offended and I would have been the first to support you. You are even more in a position to understand why what you said what not funny and was offensive.
What feelings should a mixed race person have? I am confused as I am both the opresser and the opressed. 乁[ ◕ ᴥ ◕ ]ㄏ

We all have accents, don’t take it so personal.

But they have accents too...

That accent comment was obviously a joke, as everyone in the world has an accent.

I guess yours is too

So because I find English and Scottish accents attractive that is offensive? I made the comment as my ex was english and my boyfriend is scottish. How is finding an accent attractive offensive? There are no accents I don't like but I was making a joke at my expense that I have not dated Australian guys in the last few years and if I had I would not be dealing with this visa stuff.

I'm finishing this conversation as it was never about race. This thread was about visa legality, options and asking for advice.

You got your knickers in a knot and took it somewhere else entirely.

living in a tropical paradise sounds good, applying for a partner visa ever again sounds bad.

It's not being 'spiteful' to inform Immigration. In fact, I understood the Department HAS to be informed if the relationship changes.
What this man's done isn't harmless. He's exploited an Australian citizen and the Australian immigration system. This behaviour also makes it harder for every genuine couple to get partner visas. And as you point out, it's made it much harder for you to sponsor your new partner.
