Question Required to eat a bunnings sausage to pass Citizenship test?

Hi, apologies if this is a stupid post

My partner has told me that as a way of showing support for Australian pastimes I must attend a bunnings sausage sizzle before I can get my citizenship, is this true? He said it's a way of showing true support for the Australian way of life.

Has anyone else done this?

Bunnings sausage sizzle have been cancelled due to COVID.

But no, It'll be a joke to have one for citizenship.

Apparently though it was said that they might be back in Queensland by the end of July, subject to government restrictions of course.

I am pretty sure it is a fact.

I heard that (sausage sizzle ban) was the reason for the delay in Citizenship ceremonies for the COVID period.

I normally go to Portsmith Bunnings that currently do not have the sizzle, but went to Smithfield last weekend and they seemed to have the sizzle happening - but I did not go as the gazebo was a bit further away from the doors than normal and outside the wrong entrance/exit that I was using.

P.S the sausage must have a sauce (any type) but onions are optional.

Yeah my wife had to do it.

She also had to wear thongs, stubby shorts and a singlet with a bucket hat

If you haven't had a Bunnings snag, have you actually really been to Australia?

I am very worried now that my wife has never told me about this despite 11 years of marriage and many visits to Australia. I hope never having enjoyed the pleasure (or pain?) of a Bunnings snag will not count against me in my partner visa application. Maybe I should quickly get a "hot dog" from a nearby restaurant and stage a scene pretending to be at Bunnings (though not sure that the Home Depot here will be a convincing backdrop).

I had my first Bunnings sausage sizzle last year.
And although I can't vote yet, at least I can join in the Great Australian Debate....onions on top or below.

You need to buy one, but you don't have to eat it. Don't go to Bunnings if your name is Karen !

There is a lot of misinformation out there - I watched The Castle, Priscilla and Kenny before my citizenship test and there wasn't a single question on them

My only experience of Australia before coming here was watching Priscilla and Muriel's Wedding. I reached the conclusion that Australians are big fans of ABBA. Maybe you need to sing Dancing Queen when you arrive at the ceremony?
