Biometric 600 awaiting 309

Hi all,
My husband has applied for 600 whilst we are awaiting 309. We have also applied for exemption.

We have been provided with the request for biometrics (which he already done for the 309 visa) . Obviously all the biometrics centres are closed. The department gave me a generic answer over the phone that "we will have an extention of time to get it done once they open"

But I've seen many people be granted the visa without doing the biometrics ?? Apparently they can be waived with the exemption??

I mentioned this to the department who said they can't help any further will need to wait to hear from embassy.

Has anyone had any experience with this ? What should we do... I doubt the centre's will be open before his intended travel date (no we have not booked flights).

Hi Nina

I was on the same boat. Had applied the 309 but with the current scenario, I realised that it would be very very long until the 309 would be granted and had to opt for Subclass 600 for quicker travel.

For subclass 600, I planned to apply for it and give them a call to get the biometrics waived off but they granted the visa before I made the pone call. This was done maybe because they could access it from the 309.

Hence, I suggest wait for a week and then give them a call if you dont hear anything back to request them to waive the biometrics as you have already provided one and the chances of the biometrics centers opening soon are slim.

I think you would need a valid visa to apply for a travel exemption. How did you apply for an exemption without a valid visa?
