Question on PR validity

Hello,
My husband got his PR granted July 2019. We entered Australia in Feb 2020 for 3 week holiday. We had planned to move back November year but due to COVID and recession, we just want to go back for a 3 month period and return to the USA until things get better. Does anyone know if this will affect his PR status if we don't officially immigrate until a later point in time?
Thanks in advance!
