485 Post Graduate Study Visa

Hi everybody,

I have a situation that could use your opinion. I graduated in July from a regional university and proceeded to apply for the 485 visa on the 12th of August. Everything has checked out, and I'm waiting for it to be processed. Now, I've applied for a job, and I might get offered a full-time role. From what I've been told I have had full-working rights since the completion date while I'm on my student visa (which expires on the 14th of this month). What happens after my student visa expires? How long does the 485 visa take to get processed?

Thanks in advance.

Were you granted a bridging visa? If so, read the conditions imposed on it.

Hi Westly,

Whoa! thanks for the prompt reply

I went through it. There's only one, which asks me to maintain health insurance (which I have). It doesn't say anything about work tho.

In that case, you can work.
You cannot legally hold student health cover after your student visa expires. Make other arrangements with your insurer - a trap for young players.
