Visa expiring 02 Nov 2020 re-apply to extend further

Hi all,

My mother in law who is from the Philippines has been with us in Melbourne helping us take care of my daughter (her granddaughter) while my wife and i are working, for the last 18 months. Her visa is due to expire on the 02 Nov 2020, her flight was booked with Cebu Pacific for the 30th of Oct 2020, and was purchased last year. We all know that Melbourne has no flights out due to Stage 4 lockdown, and the only flights that might leave are with ridiculous prices.

What i am wondering is that if we apply for another visa, will immigration take into account the lockdown in Melbourne and no flights available. Could they possibly extend another 6 months or 12 month due to the this crazy Covid 19 everyone is dealing with.

Thank you in advance.

Mother in law came back on 31 Dec 2019. The flight was for middle of the year 2020, but the wife rescheduled it for Oct 30 after she got the visa granted. I think she did inquire about it but was for only $300 I think. She said it would take up to 6 to 12 months. I know there is no flights scheduled for all of October as I spoke with Cebu.
