Overstaying in Australia

Hi Everyone,

I am in a hopeless situation right now. I have applied for another onshore visa (parent category visa) for my parents. They are currently on 600 tourist visa which is going to expire in a week time.

The problem is, I have not received any communication or bridging visa as of now. There is no response from immi team. Tried calling them hundred times but no clear answer.

Having a-lot of stress and now I am hopeless what to do. What if they overstay, will the new bridging visa be adjusted from the back date ? Will there be any complications on them being unlawful here ? Anyone on this forum can help me or advice me what to do.

I would book flights incase the visa does not arrive in time. Definitely do not overstay. If you don’t have a bridging visa by now, it means you will not be getting one. And without a bridging visa, they will be in the country unlawfully after expiry of their current visa which could have consequences for when they want to visit again in the future.

You can create an online account at https://online.immi.gov.au/lusc/login, and extend the visa from there. Might be able to get the extension faster, I helped a friend to extend her mum's visitor visa online before and it took about a week. It was around April when the Covid started in Aus.
