Help needed s56 request for more information Partner Visa (309) & (100)

Hi all,

I received an email yesterday from the Australian Consulate in Guangzhou, China regarding my wife and daughter’s offshore partner visa application (309 & 100) with an s56 request for more information. I received in total three attachments. The first a covering letter with the POINT OF CONTACT, the second the s56 document itself and the third two checklists (one in English and another in Chinese). The problem is that the s56 form is blank, with no information on what they exactly need (down below it says refer to the attached checklist). But the checklist they sent me seems generic, and I had given them all the information via Immiaccount they needed early on in the process. I ticked off everything I had possibly given them and uploaded statements for what I couldn’t provide before (Mainly a Chinese Police check as they don’t issue these for foreign residents now, trust me I have asked). I have submitted my sponsorship, and in total 62 documents between mine, my wife, daughter‘s application. Because they haven’t specified what they are after exactly and it seems to be a generic unedited checklist, its difficult to judge what they exactly need. Are they usually this vague? I have contacted the consulate via the immigration enquiry portal with attention to the CO and hope to get a reply soon. In the interim, does anyone have any thoughts on what could be wrong? I have been overly meticulous, conducted much research on what’s needed before we applied, and provided all of the needed translations and notarised documents. We have completed our health checks and they have been provided to Home Affairs. After submitting so much information, I am a bit puzzled on why they would request more information. Hope someone can help. Thanks

This is, unfortunately, not that unusual. There are often generic requests made and/or requests that seek information already provided.

Thanks Paul. I was worrying out of my mind with this all day. I have still sent them a message just in case they need more documents.

Yes, donít just ignore them ... provide what they ask for or a good reason why it is unavailable.
