Experiencing a delay with Washington D.C...?

Hi All,

Just thought I would let you all know, that if you are experiencing a delay with visa processing for the Australian Embassy, Washington D.C., you're not alone!

The following update was posted today:

► We are currently experiencing an increase in visa and citizenship applications in anticipation of the upcoming holidays. Our processing times have increased as a result. Please make a note of it when considering your travel plans.

Regards,

Michael.

Hey Michael and Maria

I applied to D.C in early August 09. It took them over 10 business days after they took out the money to assign me a case officer, which brought us to late august. Then i had my interview two months later in late october. Im sending in my final police check today along with my passport and was promised a 24 hour turn around for my passport to be returned. So that's about 3 months total--immi told me when i called in august that it would be no less than 4....

The key is to have everything they could possibly need by the time they interview you i think.

Good luck hope you guys get some good news soon =)

Hi elkitten!

Wow, 3 months is a good turnaround! Were you applying for LR or HR?

Maria is from a HR country, but i'm still hoping that we will have a quick turnaround. We included everything possible, except for the Medicals - we are just waiting for our CO to tell us to do it.

We were assigned a CO after around 8 or 9 days of having lodged the application, but we initiated email contact about a week later.

Hoping we get the green light for medicals soon!

Have you received your passport yet?

Michael.

Hey there!

I'm low risk country (Canadian Citizen w/ U.S PR) thankfully--it really sucks for HR country people as it can take such a long time!

Just sent my poassport offtoday so should have it by wednesday hopefully!!! =)

Since you guys are in the states I would HIGHLY recommend to book your appointment for your medical, like yesterday if not sooner. You will definitly need one--whether you are defacto or spouse, it is a pathway to permenent migration hence and HIV test is neccesary and so on. X-rays are the other factor--sure, you might not need em, but believe it or not they are the cheapest part of the medical exam (in my experience) so get the lot done when you can....

Just saw you posted something about medicals i might continue there =)

Good luck guys! keep us posted!

You are a champion elkitten!

I'm in Australia, but Maria is in Honduras at the moment.

I'll look out for your reply to the other post!
