820/801 - Visa results when overseas on BVB

Hi there. I was wondering if anyone who had applied for the 820/801 visa got their visa results when overseas on a BVB. Or if immigration will automatically cancel your visa if your not back in Aus. in time.

I submitted my 820/801 spouse visa in Jan 2020. I had to travel overseas in November 2020 as my dad passed away. I applied for a Bridging Visa B for 12 months and was approved. My wife and I both traveled overseas to spend some time with my mum. I received a message from Aus. Immigration yesterday, 1 year after submitting application asking for more documents (S56 Request).

It got us wondering- is my visa close to being approved or denied? Do we need to travel back to Australia before immigration decides on my visa? Will my visa automatically cancel if we don’t make it back to Aus in time?

Thank you so much! Any help is greatly appreciated!

You will need to return to Australia for them to be able to grant the visa. They will inform you when they are ready.
