Subclass 461 processing times

I applied in October 2018 for the 461 New Zealand citizen family relationship visa, in December 2020 I got an email request for more information: current proof from the last 6 months that we are still a couple etc, I sent that all off within 28 days as required, except for the Canadian police clearance (I had sent the wrong one when I initially applied) as covid plus Christmas post rush meant my express envelope with my finger prints took weeks to arrive..

Anyways, I’ve finally got that police clearance back and have emailed off to the visa office this morning and because I am SO excited after two years and four months. Does anyone have any insight into what happened next? I’ve heard some people had case officers call, some just had their approved, some heard back straight away and some waited another few months.
Oh the inconsistency.. it kills me!

The partner of a work colleague took close to 3 years, and I have heard of people waiting longer.
It is always best to check the official site to get the latest estimates, which currently show 75% in 34 months 90% in 39 months.

So if a case officer has contacted me for more information am I wrong in thinking that things are happening and they will be making a decision soon or could I still be waiting months/years from this point?

I would hate to hazard a guess.
The fact that they asked for additional information is a good sign that at least something is happening, and your application is not lying at the bottom of the pile.
Realisticly based on other applications it could take another 12 months or so.
