My PR extension (RRV) with < 2 yrs stay ini Aus.

Hello all ,

Sorry for the long explained post ..but i think mine might be somewhat unique situation..

I am currently an Australian PR holder but stuck in my home country India for past 11 months since lockdown .
I had my ticket to Australia booked for 1st week of March 2020 but had to cancel due to death of my cousin and then came lockdown .. Now i m still here in India with flights unavailable..
i have registered with DFAT in Dec haven't gotten any reply from them and my PR is close to expiration at the end of Feb ..

I have completed only 4.5 months stay in Australia since 2016-2021 ,,
I cant show any any substantial ties as i was hardly there in Australia ..

I had gotten my PR in 2016 Feb .. i was looking to move to Australia but unfortunately my mum was diagnosed with neurological disease (Parkinson's Plus ie PSP ), l had decided to stay back in India to look after her during her illness.
After her passing away in 2018 I had decided to move to Australia .. but i could complete only 4.5 months in 2019 and had to come back to be with my Dad who had some minor health problems.
After he recovered and was well i decided to go back had booked tickets for March 2020

I am looking to apply for RRV hopefully get at least 1 yr visa on grounds of compassionate reasons ..
Just wondering if someone has gotten RRV under similar grounds ??

Would like to hear from you if you have any suggestions or experienced similar situation.

Regards
SK

Unfortunately, your reasons for being away are not relevant... you need to demonstrate your substantial ties to Australia which are of benefit to Australia. As Westley says, some professional help to maximize your chances would be a good idea.

Expecting them to consider something that is not written into the legislation is expecting a lot ...
