RRV query

I have every intention to move to Australia. Currently, i am offshore and the Travel Facility of my PR is expiring on June 30 and I want to apply for RRV, as I want to delay going to Australia, even itís a couple of months but without any risk.

I donít meet the substantial ties criteria as I have lived only 12 days in the past 5 years in Australia. I am assuming I might get rejected or be granted a 3 month RRV or 1 year at max.

Possible reasons range from travel date uncertainty due to the current situation, quarantine waiting for wife 309 partner visa, existing employer to give bonus in July/august, etc.

Question. I want to know in which month should I apply for the RRV (considering my PR travel facility expiry is in June 30) ? considering I donít want to travel before June.
However, I donít want to end up in a situation where RRV is rejected and PR travel facility also expired.

If you choose not to return before your RRV expires, you are taking a significant risk of the above occurring. If you've only spent 12 days in Australia then your application will be under additional scrutiny and will have additional requirements.

It may be worth consulting with a migration agent should you choose to not return to Australia before the expiry, one could review your specific circumstances and give you a better idea of what your chances are (and how to potentially improve them).

I would be doing it now as processing times are around 3 months at the moment, but based on what you say, you do not have a strong application. You must demonstrate substantial ties of benefit to Australia. Without that, all the reasons in the world for not being there are not relevant.

The only sure way to protect your status is to get on a plane to Australia before your current visa expires.
