citizenship app with child

Hello All.

I have a qestion about a child being included in my citizenship application as im confused a bit about the information on DIAC.I am eligible to apply for citizenship now. At the same time my wife is expecting our first child in a couple of months, overseas. Waiting on the permanent visa to be granted still.

Now I know the child will not be eligible under citizenship by descent as I am only a PR holder (and the child will be born overseas). However in the citizenship general eligibility form there is a section to include children in the applaction (under 16 years of age).

So wondering what good does this do? Would the child be considered citizenship, or the same rules apply (that the child has to meet residency requirements)?
