Character assessment particulars

Hi Guys,

I am a computer professional living in US and applying for the Australian Immigration (Class 175). I submitted my application online yesterday and now in list of documents I am seeing "Complete character assessment particulars for this applicant".

On that form, first few screens are about personal details and employment history but after that I am seeing a screen titled "Visit to Australia". One that screen the first question is Purpose of stay in Australia and Immigration is not part of given options (drop down). And then they are asking about my arrival date, departure date, flight number, duration and address where I am intend to live in Australia. Now if I am applying for the immigration, what should be my reason of visit, arrival and departure date, and address? I am totally clueless here and would really appreciate any advice on that.

Thank you in Advance.

ok so 175 is skilled independent migration right?

So wouldnt your purpose be to work/employment?

As for departure date etc, that confuses me as well--why would you already have your flights booked when you dont know when your visa will be approved???? hmmmmmm..... that's really odd...youre on the right form for sure right? Maybe call up the immigration hotline and ask them (1 905 280 1437)??? Im at a loss.....

as for character requirements, here is a place you can read about it: Character Requirement - Applications & Forms

...but basically you need police certificates from anywere you have live for a TOTAL of 12 months or more in the last 10 years. So even if you went to england for 5 months 10 years ago, and then went again for 6 two years ago, that adds up to 12 months so you have to get a police clearance.

So for the U.S, you need to get fingerprinted and send it off with the proper forms to the FBI and for the state in which you usually reside. Here is a link to the FBI info: Federal Bureau of Investigation - Criminal Justice Information Services Division - FBI Identification Record Request. You can find info about how to do it for your state by googling "X state police clearance".... You can get fingerprints done at your local police station and sometimes for free.

The i guess when you have that you somehow upload it to your application like all the rest of the info right?

Good luck! Sorry i couldnt help you with the question part too much...

I've not done an online application and can't access the system at the moment but have you previously visited Australia and if so, could the questions re visiting be in respect to that.

If you have not previously visited but anwered a query wrong on the application, perhaps you have given an i ndication that you did.

If neither of thos situations apply, then I'd suggest you use the "contact" provision on the DIAC site to send a very specific message through explaining the situation and hopefully someone will get around to looking at your application and advise.
