Question Recognition as a Radio Engineer ASCO 2125-13???

Hello ,

I have recently been recognized as a Radio Engineer by Engineers Australia. Specifically, it's written:

"...recognition as a Professional Engineer (Radio Engineer, ASCO 2125-13)"

I know that this code (ASCO 2125-13) is the one that Electronics Engineers use, as well. However, I was recognized as a Radio Engineer and not as an Electronics engineer even though both ASCO codes are the same.

Is your occupation in demand? - Workers - Visas & Immigration

My question is, could I claim MODL points although I have been recognized as a Radio Engineer and not as an Electronics Engineer?

Thank you in advance for your replies.

Seems a strang one that for Radio Engineer is not on the Engineers list and not one that I've ever really heard of associated with professional engineers.

I'd be clarifying with IEA re why they have used Radio Engineer, perhaps if that is what you called yourself in seeking assessment and if they are giving you a positive assessment as a Electronics Engineer, that's what I'd be getting an assessment to show to avoid unnecessary confusion.

Hi Wanderer ,

First of all thank you for replying.
Also the following sentence was in the email from Engineers Australia:

"The ASCO Dictionary identifies both Radio Engineer and Mechatronics Engineer as specializations of Electronics Engineering."

So, I think that, probably, I could claim MODL points taking into account that Radio and Mechatronics are both specializations of Electronics Engineering. Reading the above sentence do you think I could claim MODL points?

Thanks once again for your reply.

If you actually have an official assessment from them it should be OK as long as the ASCO Code is specified.
I'm a bit surprised that they have not actually sent a letter re their official assessment rather than just sending an email.

It is not just a general advisory email they have sent is it and you have actually submitted your qualifications, translated where necessary to get the official assessment have you?

Hi,

Well, I have been told that EA is going to send me an official letter. Therefore, I should be getting it in the following days.
