Visa Approved/Entry Denial Possible ??

I've been granted with a Class VE, Subclass 175 Skilled - Independant visa. I am planning to arrive in perth (where my uncle stays) in the end of Feb. I've even booked a 1 way ticket..

My plan was to settle everything financially down here & leave carrying ($), only for what is required for the journey. After arriving in Australia, my uncle is taking care of Food & Shelter until i find a job.

Now, my immigration agent informs me that i carry some $'s which i understand. He then dropped the bomb that there's a possibility of me being denied entry upon arrival if i don't carry a certain amount. So, i would like to know if there's any Benchmark amount you should be carrying to enter Australia and are there any chances of me being denied entry just bcuz i don't have enough cash on hand?

If you're coming in on a PR visa you'd be unlikely to be asked re money and not a reason to stop you.

Wanderer is right. The reason why they ask people about money at entry is to make sure that people do not work illegally. It does not apply to you, they want you to work. If, for whatever reason, they ask, you simply give them your uncles tel no and they can ring him. If he confirms you will stay with him, no problems.
I have had my mother come to Australia on a visitor's visa on many occasions without any money. On occasions she was asked who she was visiting. The moment she said: my daughter', they left her alone.
So don't worry, come and enjoy yourself. Some luggage will keep any suspicion away from you, so they won't even ask.
Cheers
Dorota
