student visa complications

Hello everyone!

I came to Canada as an international student in 2001 and run out of status in 2003 nonetheless I completed my studies but I cannot go any further or get a decent job due to the inhumane conditions that non-status immigrants have to endure. I have retained an immigration consultants who is certified by the gov of Australia to get me a student visa for Australia and he said that my status in Canada is irrelevant, and as long as I meet the conditions on the form I will be granted a visa, he also went as far as saying that I could be picking up my visa from the Australian embassy in Canada. My question is, are they going to verify my status in Canada when I go to pick up my visa.

Thank you, Merci, Molto grazie, شكرًا, धन्यवाद, 谢谢, Danke.
Sincere regards,

10zizou.

Hi 10zizou,
Australia has not been free of issues with student visas and amongst the issues area
. Dodgy overseas agents promising the world to potential students and students themselves not being fully aware of what may be in store for them and that can include
. Cost of living and inadequate funds and so they find themselves in not so good conditions
. Courses that may have been arranged by dodgy agents and could be suspect in quality.
. Indication by agents that being a student will result in permanent residency and whilst that can be a possibility, it is by no means certain.

The Australian immigration department along with other governement departments are currently investigating some of the problem areas with some companies likely to face prosecution.

Do yourself a favour and consider what course you want to study and why in Australia.
Look at costs, starting @ Students - Visas & Immigration and in particular Students and General Skilled Migration you'll find under "more information for students".

The government is in particular addressing the situation of international students not having valid finds for support and so your financial situation in Canada could be scrutinised.

Thx Wanderer for the reply but what I would like to find out is whether the Oz embassy will ask for my student permit in Canada in order to grant my visa or they dont care as long as I fulfill or requirements they ask for (which does not inquire about one's status in a country).

Thank you again
