Smile 176 Non CSL (State Sponsored) Applicants!!

Hi Guys,

Starting this thread so we can share our timelines and opinions...

General Skilled Migration 175 (Accountant) applied on 07 July 2009

IELTS, work experience, Form 1221, Skill Assesement (CPA) uploaded on 08 July 2009

Police clearance Uploaded on 06 August 2009

Medicals finalised on 1 December 2009

Applied for State Sponsorship to Western Autralia on 07 July 2009

Sent the Acknowledgement for State Sponsorship to WA on 11 Decemeber 2009.

Unfortunately, not on CSL, as Dont have 7 in all Bands (Reading 7.5 Speaking 7.5 Listening 8.5 Writing 6) But Accountants are on CSL as per 23 September Update.

As no more Docs are required I presume, will the Case Officer once allocated will speed up my Process?

How long its taking now for State Sponsored Applicants who are not on CSL, to get CO assigned?? Any Advise??

And Anyone please help me with this, Do I have to inform DIAC about my Change in VISA category from 175 to 176?? Or Is it the job of WA state to follow up with DIAC??

Thanks and Regards

Welcome to the forum flamboyant and you might have see a GSM timeline thread at the top - http://www.australiaforum.com/visas-...lications.html .
You can post there if you like.

As for a non CSL state sponsored, that puts you as a Category 5 and though DIAC have started processing a few of those just before Xmas, it'll likely be quite spasmodic as it'll only happen when less higher priority applications are being received.
Apparently with the few that did get processed [a break over Xmas now] their focus was on ones that prior to 23/9 had been considered close to finalisation, ones that had already had a CO assigned and that had medicals/police checks in hand.

For people who have not had a CO assigned, the timeframe is still rather indefinite, out in 2011/2012 maybe land for it'll always depend on economic climate, capping on immigration numbers and numbers of higher priority applications.

As I understand it, States do forward advice of nominations to DIAC but you could attempt checking that with a Post Lodgement Enquiry via contact info on Department of Immigration & Citizenship

Thanks for your quick reply wanderer :-)

Is it true that when we convert from 175 to 176, the entire process would again be reset i.e, immigrations would regard this as a fresh application??? And any idea as to how long its takes for WA to inform DIAC about the change in VISA type??

Please Advise??

I'm not 100% on the re-setting and something best clarified with DIAC you can do via an enquiry under contact on Department of Immigration & Citizenship and you could post back their response.
