Queensland state nomination settlement fund requirement!

Hi everyone

I really need some advise on the settlement funds that i have to show to queensland state for skilled nomination. I have submitted my EOI and they have asked me for more documents and it includes
- evidence of a job offer for minimum 12 months
- evidence of sufficient funds for settlement

And i have been researching and i saw $20,000 is the standard amount. And this seems reasonable if you dont have a job in queensland and if you have to start from scratch here. I have been working here in Brisbane for the past one and half years and I do have a my job till Dec 2014. I already have a unit to stay and also health insurance and all that. Do you think i still have to show 20,000AUD, or less than that?

This amount seems to be a lot and i admit i dont have that much money. How do you guys show that much money? Has anyone showed queensland a lower amount that required and still got the nomination? Please let me know!

Thanks for your time!

FINALLY! Someone with a Queensland SS as well Well, in my research, there wasn't anywhere on the Queensland website where I could find the minimum amounts, but I did look on other states, and they were about $30,000 per person. However, I showed them about $60,000. You should be very careful about this, and if you're not sure about whether or not you can give a lower amount since you are already settled in Australia, it's best to ask them. They do emphasise on the website that those with insufficient funds will be denied a state sponsorship.

How long did it take for QLD to ask you for this info after the EOI was lodged, btw?

I'm applying offshore at the moment.. I had to sell a couple of things, actually, since all that has to be in cash and not in the form of assets well, good luck to you with the visa Could I ask how it is in queensland in terms of jobs in the life sciences area?? And also there's info all over the web about how racist queenslanders are.. Have you or anyone you know experienced that?

I also submitted my EOI on Friday last week and after Monday's round of nomination, i got a nomination from Queensland. As an offshore applicant, i would require to show evidence of $45,000. That's really exorbitant.

My brother lives in Narrabri and would have loved to be nominated by NSW region.

I really don't know what to do now because I can't provide any evidence for such huge amount within 2 weeks.

Can I decline the offer, withdraw my EOI and re-submit specifying only NSW as my preferred sponsor?

I need candid advice pls
