Dear Lion,
Your visit to Au will not affect your PR application at all, however, having a PR application in may affect you getting a visitor's visa. DIAC might consider you to be a risk of overstaying (depending on the country you are from). Try to get your visitor's visa asap so you can plan your visit. Keep us informed on your efforts and progress of your PR application. There is a sticky post re timeline and if you post your details there and keep updating it will help others to work out where they stand.
Hope it helps and good luck.
Dorota

Thanks Dorota for your Reply.

Here is my story.

1) Applied online on August 14th 09
2) Class type VE 175 (IT Engineer)
3) Co Assigned on November 30th and asked for all the documents along with medicals and Police Clearance.
4) submitted everything by December 3rd week.
5) Presently in Newzeland on Work Visa planning to visit my girl friend who is in Sydney and not interested in returning NZ as i dint feel something gr8 in NZ IT industry.

So now my question is does it affect my PR application if i go to Sydney to stay with my girl friend on visitor Visa. I mean to say me being unemployed during this time i.e. Jan to March 2010 will affect my PR ???

Dear Lion,
if you qualified for PR at the time of the application, your work history after the application is lodged does not have any influence on your PR application. If it was otherwise, there would be too much uncertainty in the migration law, especially unfair to those people who lose their jobs after waiting for years for their PR. If you look at the points system on immi site it has to do with your work exp 'prior to lodging an application'. Of course, if you breach the conditions of your visitor's visa (overstaying, illegal work, etc) this might affect your PR application but hopefully it won't happen.
Good luck.
Dorota

Lion,

The first thing you ought to do is send an email in advising of your intent to travel to Australia and ask how far away you are from getting the visa granted - it could be close, like sometime soon in January as it seems you're on the CSL [ and I'd not make my travel plans until you hear back from the CO ].

If you do travel to Australia before the visa is granted, you'll need to travel out of Australia again to allow it to be granted.

I disagree entirely with both thoughts of Xdorota.

I may be wrong but I think it is full citizenship you need for cross Tasman residency/employment reciprocity.

All,

Thanks for all the information . I have checked my Status Online and it says my medical is finalised on 31st Dec 09. Any idea how far i am from the result.

Also i assume from the above information from you guys that if i am unemployed because of my contract termination it should not affect much for my visa.

Thanks

That shows your CO was working up to the NY weekend and hopefully if working again after the weekend [people do take holidays at different times] the grant could be getting very close if all else is accepted.
