Postgrad study in AU to support skilled PR visa application

Hi everyone

I'm an early childhood teacher in NZ and considering the move to AU with my husband and young daughter but we would want to be able to get PR in the long run.

unfortunately my teaching degree (graduate diploma) has been assessed as not 'educational' enough for immigration purposes because it only took me one year of studying. I hold a 4 year diploma in textile design from a swiss school of art but this has not been acknowledged as higher level education by the assessing authority.

My questions are:
If I study for a Master of Education in Australia by 2 years distance education would that be helpful towards a skilled PR visa? how do AU degrees get assessed? Also I am interested in a Masters program that combines teaching and special needs and I need to know if my experience as an early childhood teacher would still be classified as relevant for the points system?

I am aware that these things might always change but it would be good to have a general idea if I am heading in the right direction.

Thanks for any suggestions!
