how can i go around in australia for 12 months

Hi me and my partner wants to apply for a de facto relationship but its says there that we need to be living together atleast 12 months. My question is how can I go around in australia for 12 months without them to deport me. Im already 30+ so I can't be on the working holiday visa anymore. I can't go on a student visa also coz its very expensive i can't afford it. Can I apply for a 12month tourist visa can they allow me to spend the 12 months straight without going home in my homeland. Coz Ive read that the maximum months that they allow in tourist visa is 3 months only.

There are 12 month tourist visas but obviously you would need to have funds and they are not a visa that allows work.
It could be that they may not even grant one for it can also depend on what country you come from.
Other alternatives would be to see if you could get an employer sponsored visa for initially temporary residency if you have a suitable working background with skills in demand.
In the student visa area, you'll also find Occupational Training visas that you could see if you are eligible for, an employer still to be found.

The other approach would be if your partner can go and live with you in your country or if you do have a number of shorter visits together and if marriage is to occur, then there is the Prospective Marriage Visa.
