Class VE, Subclass 175 Skilled - Independent

Hi
I applied and got the "Class VE, Subclass 175 Skilled - Independent" along with my wife. I need some clarifications regarding the following issue:

1. Do we(me & my wife) get the PR(Permanent Resident) when I reach Australia?
2. To get Citizenship or Australian Passport, what is the procedure?
3. I got the VISA as an IT Professional (matching MODL), can do any other jobs of other trades? Can I do odd-jobs if I do not get my desired jobs?
4. Can I get the Medicare help after reaching Australia?
5. Can I get Social Security Payment after reaching Australia?

Regards
mdronis

Welcome to the forum alphanumerio and congratulations.
1. Yes, as long as you do it by the required entry date.
2. You'll have to spend three of the four years including the last 12 months in Australia prior to application for citizenship and sit for a test.
Have a look on Department of Immigration & Citizenship - the orange pad on right.
Onceyou have citizenship you can apply for a passport.
3. You and your wife will have unrestricted work rights in any type of work.
4. Yes, you can immediately enrol for medicare on arrival.
5. There is a two year period before most social security payments.
On Department of Immigration & Citizenship there is also a section on living in Australia with things to do and some good info.
