The 485 visa is intended to provide for people to get some relevant experience following study and your decision on applying for one now or after completion of studies is something you are in the nest position to decide, ie.
. Have you qualifications completed already or do you actually need the .5 year to complete them
. Then you need to look at not only your eligibility for the 485 but then a PR visa if that is your objective.

You should also have a look at the most recent Feb.08 annoucements on withrawal of MODL as there has been some consideration given to 485 visa holders/applicants and sunsequent GSM application.

Thanks wanderer for helping into this matter. Its like i have completed my bachelor in IT(1 year) equivalent to 8 course and masters of information system(1.5 years) equivalent to 12 courses . but when i asked the uni they told me that i can continue to do one more semester and complete 16 units which is called masters of information system(Advanced) so my plan here is exiting with 1.5 years of master of information system and applying for GSM visa then again transfering the MIS to MIS advanced whilist on GSM,finishing the remaining one semester to make count to 3 years of study in Australia for extra 10 points.. then apply for PR.. is that possible

OR

As i asked to other migration agents they say that i should again apply for student visa (as i finish my student visa on march 2010 )and complete one more semester to make count to 3 years in australia. But my point here is tat i will be studying in Australia when i am on GSM visa. i think that on GSM visa we have full study rights as far as know..

i have also got IELTS overall 6.

i hope this give a clear picture....

Can anyone help....

Thanks

I reckon you better have a closer read of eligibility requirements for AFAIK both the 885 and 485 have a two years study requirement - that being actual time in the real world and not what number of units may be considered equivalent to.
Skilled – Independent (Residence) visa (subclass 885)

seems to indicate you have only done nthe one year and that is different to what you have put in your OP.
