Nearly ready to apply for defacto!!

Hey there

Ive been on this forum for ages now and asking questions and reading loads. Thanks for all the advice

We are now getting things ready to apply for beginning of May.

Just want to write a few things here and get some advice to make sure we have enought info, as we really need to get the visa

-OK, we have lived together in my mum and dads granny flat in backyard for 1 year... be 14 months when we apply. (Been together for 3 years but not live together that whole time, so doesnt count). So mum has printed out a lease from the internet and filled that out for us. Will also mention in sta decs about living conditions etc.
-We DONT have any house bills in our name, as they are in my parents.
- we have had our car for 1 year and the insurance is in both names coming to our address. We have just purchased another car which is both our names and the insurance again.
- Have have had a joint bank account for 6 months. Car insurance and car payments from that account as well as rent to mum and dad for past 6 months)
- Loads of xmas cards and photos and invites etc
- Have asked 8-10 people to do stat decs for us.
- Seperate bank statements showing us travelling up east coast of australia last year for 2 months. Will show we were in same places at same time.

Does this all look good for us?? We are a very loving couple and everyone can see that, def friends and family. We are hoping to get a interview at immi office in adelaide to present this all to them. We serioulsy cant be without each other.

Also, question about sta decs, what evidence do they have to show that they are australian?? passport or birth cert?? Anything else they can show

OK, thats it for now. Will use this thread for next wee while while we do this application

Sally

Sounds to me like you've got it pretty well sorted Sally and do not discount previous time together either and do make note of that in a chronological timeline summary.

I think anybody doing a stat. decl. can even use something like a Drivers Licence for Oz verification, that and their accent!

Another question.. as the sponsor, i have to supply evidence of employment for past 2 years. Ive been in the same job for past year so thats ok, but before that i was in UK working. Do i need to get a letter or something from that emplyoment , if so what do they need to know?? Can i just use my p45 i got when i left the UK??

Also, was looking at the stat dec forms and the booklet, they both say to use passport or birth cert for certification. Can the persons use a passport thats run out. My parents dont have a current passport and cant get hold of birth cert.

Thanks

Is the P45 like a taxation group certificate or something Sally? and if so, I'd reckon that ought to be OK along with your Aussie records and if you have some for before you went to the UK that'll also show you to have continuity of employment.

Whenever I've ever had statutory declaration forms done, I've just usually showed a drivers licence and I'd reckon that along with an expired passport will identify your parents to the people signing them - and I just usually go along to the local police station and they usually have someone happy to oblige.

Yes, p45 is just a form saying how much you earnt that finanical year and that the emplyment has finished. I am goin to email my boss from that job and get him to write an email stating the dates i worked there etc.

Thanks for the help!! Due to my partners emplyment we are goin to apply as soon as we have been living together for one year, which will be in a few weeks. So ill be on here loads for some help

Hey Sally, I am in a similar situation to you. My boyfriend is australian, he has been working here for the past year but in England before that so we are just sending a copy of his P45.

Also regarding the passport issue, I think I read somewhere that it can be an out of date passport as long as it wasn't cancelled.

Don't quote me on this as I am just handing in my application but this is how I read the information.

Also it sounds like you have loads of evidence that you are a couple. I have also included a lot of photographs of me and my boyfriend, although it does help that I have had lots of different hair cuts over the past year!

Hope this helps
