The Philippines (and Thailand) have a unique perspective on homosexuality, it's really an eye-opener. The easiest way to explain it is that people there treat 'bakla' (gays) as a separate gender, and most accept or at least tolerate homosexuality, even the older generations. It's also interesting considering the majority of the country consists of devout, traditional Catholics.

I would love to go and live with my partner for a year to satisfy the requirements but my reason for not being able to do so is that I can't apply for work in the Philippines. I would need a company there to demonstrate that my skills are required specifically due to a lack of any Filipinos being able to do the job which isn't going to happen in my situation. We're both young, I don't have the luxury many other expats there have i.e. superannuation, savings or a pension to live off.

Hi Mark!

It's okay. I am just making sure that all things will be in place before we lodge the application. I have read success stories of hetero de facto couples who also share the same condition with me and my partner and they were granted the visa. I just wish they would also the genuine love that we have for each other.

Thanks again! I will post more updates when applicable.

Hi @Zaprct!

I believe we may have similar situations so I would like to get in touch with you more if it's okay? Maybe we can help each other get through these processes.

Thanks!

Its really is an eyeopener, the ''Gays'' here are treated the same as everyone else is.....we have a few ''Gay'' friends here and we have absolutely no qualms about how they dress, behave or look.....and they themselves have no issues being just who they are......unfortunately working here or owning anything is out of the question......only way to live some sort of life is to have a income from abroad......ie...working online....
