Not using an agent for a 461???

Hi I am new to this forum.

I am British with a New Zealand passport living in Cyprus, my husband is British.

I want to ask people if filling in and sending the 461 visa application form myself will cause me a problem or delay? It seems fairly straight forward....... any help greatly appreciated, it seems most people use an agent but they are so expensive. I am sending the police checks and medical insurance with it.

Also does anyone know if Cyprus is deemed a 'risky' country?

Thanks in advance.

Hello akeys,

I work for a migration agency so I'm in a biased position, but in all honesty there's no reason why you can't make an independent application as long as you're prepared to research the requirements and take care with the application to ensure you're supplying accurate information and all the necessary forms/documents.

Using a reputable agent can give you the peace of mind that your application is being handled by someone with a wealth of experience and knowledge, but as you rightly said it does come at a cost. If you have undertaken a lot of the work and are worried, a lot of agencies will offer a review service or take the case on for an hourly fee.

In my experience the 461 is not particularly complicated, especially for a married couple.

When looking at 'risky' countries (I'm assuming this is in context to processing times?) it's more a matter of Citizenship/nationality than place of residence.

Good luck,

Thanks for your reply, that has really put my mind at ease, good idea about the check over service.
