New passport help urgent!

Hi everyone,

I'm visiting my home country for a short while and need a new passport as old one expired next year.. If I get it now, do I need to inform Aus Immi beforehand and how do I do this from overseas? Or can I just travel back with both passports with me?

Thanks heaps for the help!
