Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi, I'm a 31 year old Irish girl who has been in Australia on a working holiday visa since 8th May 2009. I have 6 weeks left on my visa and cant get a second year working holiday visa due to age restrictions. I have recently met an Australian guy (7 weeks) ago and would like any information I can get so I can stay on in Australia, hopefully for another 6 months so we can be together, travel and bit and have enough time for him to apply for his Italian passport (his mum is Italian)... Can anyone help please? I'm aware I'm running out of time and would hate to have to leave at the start of May when I've just met this wonderful guy!

Thanks in advance

What most people on a WHV need to do dinkle is take a trip abroad, NZ if you're on the eastcoast and then apply for either an eVisa, ETA or a straight tourist visa.
eVisitor
Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) - Online Applications
Tourist Visa (Subclass 676)
The ETAs have been the preferred in the past where only up to three months were required though by a second trip and return you can extend for a further three months.
You would need to show you have funds to allay any suspicion of Immi that you would be doing any more work [ illegally ] and if you have been working a fair bit rather than holidaying and have funds, then wanting more time for now seeing the country is plausible.
The evisa as far as I know is only good for one visit of three months though wording seems to infer multiples as with the ETA and you could apply for one of them to see if that's so and if not then on second trip out you then apply for an ETA [ only $20 ] .
Alternately you could apply for a 676 for 6 months online and save the second trip out and back.

You need to ast least allow a few days to a week before the WHV expires for NZ require a person to have a flight out to a country for which they have a right of entry and airlines will not take you unless you have that.
You could just book a return trip to NZ, returning a few days after going or longer [within validity of WHV] if you want to have a look around if Aussie guy wants to go too, and as soon as you arrive you go online to book either of the above visas.

If you leave it until just the day or two before the WHV ends or plan on staying longer past WHV validity, what you'll have to do is either still book your return flight within validity and pay for any changes or lose the flight, or book a one way and a one way refundable flight to Fiji and then cancel that on arrival in NZ after getting the visa and booking flight back to Australia.
