5 yrs together but apart 4 months in last year?

Hello
My partner and I have been together for the last 5 years and in a defacto relationship for the last 4. We have all the paper work and meet all of the requirements for the visa. The only thig that is bothering me is that she had to come home back to Oz for 4 months in the last year because her job didn't start until march and mine did in January so finacially it was better for her to go home and work for that time. How would the agents look at this situation? Any help or similar stories would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Time spent physically apart is acceptable as long as there is a valid reason (like work commitments) and you demonstrate that you still supported each other, kept joint responsibilities, corresponded and generally maintained the same relationship but over a long distance.

In this scenario the financial strain it would have placed on you both if your partner did not return to work in Australia should be stressed. Time apart should be a necessity rather than a choice.

All the best,
